Westchester Yoga Mala 2016

It was our most beautiful Mala yet . The weather was perfect for saluting the sun (108 times ) the band was fantastic and the Yogis were amazing! A big thank you to all who participated , the teachers who lead the Mala and all those who couldn’t make it but donated . Same Time next year .

WHAT IS A MALA?

These necklaces or meditation garlands have been worn for thousands of years by yogis and spiritual seekers.

First created in India 3000 years ago, mala beads have roots in Hinduism, Buddhism and yoga.

 108 has long been considered a sacred number in Hinduism and yoga. Traditionally, malas, or garlands of prayer beads, come as a string of 108 beads

 Yogis all around the world will also be offering  their sun salutations to celebrate world peace day

Together we will be one bead on the

GLOBAL MALA or MALA AROUND THE EARTH

to raise awareness for WORLD PEACE.

Remember , you do not have to do all 108 Sun Salutations as with all Yoga , we can rest whenever we like, and there will be modifications for all abilities

The 108  Sun Salutation will be led

by 10 teachers
