We founded this space in 2013 to offer something different: a studio where you aren't just a face in a crowded room, but a student known by name. We bridge the gap between performance and recovery, helping you find a sustainable balance of strength and flexibility in an environment that feels like home.

MEET THE Owners

DAVID & CHRISSY MCSWEENEY

David and Chrissy McSweeney didn’t set out to open a yoga studio—they set out to deepen their own practice. They fell in love with yoga in the early 2000s and enrolled in teacher training simply to learn more, but the practice had other plans. By 2013, inspired by how profoundly yoga had changed their lives, they took a leap of faith, left their careers, and opened The Stretch.

For David, yoga was the key to healing chronic back pain from years of playing Gaelic football. For Chrissy, it offered powerful tools to navigate anxiety and insomnia. Together, they bring their backgrounds in athletics and dance into classes that are intelligently designed, thoughtfully sequenced, and beautifully balanced. What began as a personal journey has grown into a vibrant Yonkers community where every visit begins and ends with a cup of tea.

Meet the Team

SYDNEY FISHER

Sydney Fisher has been faithfully practicing yoga for nearly 20 years and instructing for 12. She is passionate about helping students get curious about their bodies’ movement and learn to listen to themselves. With 500 hours of training in Vinyasa and Restorative yoga, her classes are playful, grounding, and focused on the simple joy of feeling good in your body.

CANDICE ALCANTARA

Candice specializes in the balance of Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, with a journey rooted in presence both on and off the mat. She has completed advanced training in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Breathwork, and Anatomy, allowing her to hold inclusive, accessible spaces for students of all backgrounds. Her teaching style blends mindful movement and creative sequencing to encourage deep connection.

500-Hour RYT | Vinyasa & Yin Yoga Specialist

Ladybug

Ladybug joined the Stretch family in 2020. She specializes in Thread the Needle and moral support. She is available for private sessions.
