ASHTANGA YOGA 101
with L2 AUTHORIZED TEACHER LARA LAND
Saturday , September 10th at 1:00pm
In this workshop you will delve deep into the history, philosophy, and practice of Ashtanga Yoga. We begin by telling the story of the journey of yoga from east to west and and the way the practice has adapted and stayed the same. Next we look at the tristhana (three central focal points) of the Ashtanga practice: breath, gaze, and posture and how they are supported by the Mula and Uddiyana Bandhas (locks in the body). Students will have a chance to feel these in the body as experience both the Mysore and Led Ashtanga systems. Lara will breakdown the sequencing and the vinyasa flow between poses. Students learn basic Sanskrit, the Ashtanga chant, and have a look at the word Ashtanga and all of Patanjai’s eight limbs.
bio: Lara Land is an authorized Ashtanga Yoga teacher with 18 years yoga experience. She has worked in the most prestigious health clubs in New York City, including Reebok, Yoga Works, and Pure.
